Many times, new teams surprise international teams with their performance. Singapore team has done something similar this time. For the first time in history, the Singapore team has defeated the team of a full-time member of an ICC.
Singapore beat Zimbabwe by 4 runs in a T20 match on Sunday. This match in Dubai was reduced to 18 overs due to rain. While batting first, Singapore scored 181 runs at the loss of 9 wickets.
None of the Singapore batsmen could score more than 50 runs, but still, due to the good bowling of the lower order, the team managed to reach the score of 181.
Singapore’s Rohan Rangarajan scored 39 runs off 22 balls, while Surendran Chandramohan scored 23 runs. Batting of both gave Singapore a good start, but both batsmen were dismissed in the same over.
After this, Singapore’s team managed to score challenging scores on the innings of Aritra Dutta (7), Tim David (41) and Manpreet (41).
Zimbabwe did not have a good start
Ryan Burl took the most three wickets from Zimbabwe. Chasing 182 runs, Zimbabwe’s team’s first wicket fell to a score of 22 where Brian Chari was dismissed for only 2 runs. He was dismissed by Amjad Mehboob.
Riggs Chakabwa and Sean Williams made a small partnership of 39 runs but Seladore Vijayakumar dismissed Chakwba (48) in the sixth over. After this, Williams and Tinotenda Mutombodji shared a 79-run partnership to keep Zimbabwe’s hopes alive.
Zimbabwe was moving towards victory
From here, Zimbabwe looked to be going towards victory. But Singapore returned to the match by dismissing Williams (66) and Mutombodji (32).
Here Zimbabwe needed 40 runs to win, but the team kept losing wickets continuously and finally Singapore managed to win by four runs.
